I am based in the Vale of Pewsey and was unaware of the potential fun to be had on the local chalk hills until out cycling one day, and saw an acrobatic rc glider being put through its paces. That looked like fun, and soon found myself the owner of a plan and a pile of balsa. It was quickly built and decided to cover the fuselage in some left over glass cloth from a windsurf board to toughen it up a bit. A few rebuilds later the hot wire bow made for shaping boards found a new use making wings and I had discovered a new hobby, building and flying rc gliders.

Most of my time lately has been spent working on fuselage plugs, they are taking shape and the first one, the Energy is ready for moulding. Still on track to get all my fuselage mouldings done by the end of British Summer Time, and then hope to stock pile a few fuselages during the winter for spares. Ideally would like to build some new planes as well because my fleet is depleted and tatty, have also sold some of them to fund a materials restock, so looks like I will be busy for a while.

Have had a fairly quiet time in the workshop over the early part of the summer but building is ramping up and now have some more stuff to share with you. Work has begun on a 2.1m ds plane called Alien as the nose reminds me of a Ridley Scott monster, also have been making progress on a 60" plane that will be called Energy which is loosly based on Aarons Daisy Cutter after having a chat with him and getting the ok to build it, have used the DP fuselage mould as a base for this and have been working on the back end, getting it ready for a re-mould and will use the original nose cone and boat but turn it upside down. The plug for the Gimp fuselage is getting close to done now also, just needs some final sanding and polishing then get it moulded ready to play with some inflatable bladders. Would like to get my moulding done for the mentioned fuselages before the clocks go back in October, and that would put me well ahead of my usual winter building set up. Updated the Wurzel page and shot some video of the Alien progress in the video below.
