              Span :  42"

 Wing section :  Ayers 6014

               Root :  6.25"

                  Tip :  4"

           Weight :

Wing loading :  upwards of 30ozs sq ft

           Length :

           Ballast :

I have wanted to build one of these for a long time, since completing the Nitro molds really. Finally got started on it after flying in some strong winds recently with the Nitro fully ballasted to 67ozs. It went really high while stall turning it but on the horizontal it just wasn't heavy enough, looking really slow battling across the 40-50 mph winds at the lip of the slope, it was probably flying at 80mph or so but just didn't look like it until I pulled the elevator to go vertical. Time to experiment with a lead sled to see just how much weight my local hills will support, but smaller for less damage on landings and self launching.

I made the wings from expanded polystyrene, they are really thin to allow for the ply and glass thickness after using a 1mm skin option in profilli. Layed up the ply with 6oz glass plus some 6 oz uni-carbon on the top skins only, put them in the wing press to cure and got on with the fuselage. This took a while to lay up but seems nice and tough now its nicely cured, 6oz, 3 layers of 10 oz and a last layer of 6oz accounts for its toughness, and after cleaning up the seams the nose cone will just fit, very snugly. 25mm mahogany leading edges and wing tips have been fitted and sanded down to profile, halves joined and now ready to vac bag it.
